Moondust Woman (2023)
Inspired by a 1920s Zigfield Follies portrait, I immersed myself in the art of digital illustration using Procreate. Striving to cultivate a sophisticated gold aesthetic, I strategically opted for a navy blue backdrop to enhance the vibrancy of yellow and gold tones, placing emphasis on the prominence of the central female figure. To add a refined ethereal touch, I incorporated a luminous yellow halo around both the moon and the subject, elevating the overall composition into a mesmerizing and polished piece.

For the ad design of White Whale Brewing Company, I embraced a distinctly nautical theme, inspired by the maritime world, and sought to amplify its visual impact for the advertisement. Drawing influence from the Art Nouveau movement, I aimed to infuse a modern touch into the design. However, an unforeseen challenge arose during the project when the beer bottle mock-ups were handed off to first-year photography students. Regrettably, upon receiving the bottles and images, it became apparent that the labels had been ripped, evident in the photographs. To salvage the inclusion of the beer bottles in my ad, I had to delicately position them in a small corner without compromising the overall design.

Motivated by the winter season and a desire to capture the essence of childhood nostalgia, my inspiration drew from the iconic red houses of Scandinavia, painted to withstand winter’s harsh conditions. Opting to amplify the cozy atmosphere, I depicted the snow reflecting the house’s warmth, setting the scene at night to intensify the winter chill. Balancing warmth and coldness, I incorporated the same yellow hue in the moon, house windows, and figure skating, creating a harmonious connection throughout the illustration.
